Scottish Hockey Union Ltd [known as 'Scottish Hockey'] is registered in Scotland (Company Number SC208125) with its office at 589 Lanark Road, Edinburgh, EH14 5DA.
It was incorporated in June 2000, a company limited by guarantee but without a share capital, in order primarily to limit the liability of its members.
Scottish Hockey is governed by its Memorandum and Articles, which are available as a download by clicking the link to the right. They outline the legal structure of the company, including important information on decision making processes, voting procedures, and the formal proceedings of the Annual General Meeting.
In Legal terms, the Members of Scottish Hockey are the Clubs, who are represented at the Annual General Meeting by Trustees. Scottish Hockey will accept all applications from Trustees for a Club which supports the objectives of the Union and has a Constitution acceptable to the Directors.
Scottish Hockey has a Board of between seven and thirteen Directors [see About Us], who serve out specific roles and responsibilities, according to their area of expertise. The Board meets at least six times per year, or more regularly as need arises, to set strategy and policy, and monitor performance.
The Operational Framework [available for download in two parts by clicking the links on the right] outline the structure of the sport's governance in Scotland. The aim is to raise understanding amongst all those involved in the sport at all levels, and, in turn streamline our governance through effective communication and increased awareness of decision making processes.
The company operates under the guidance of comprehensive policy documents, and operates a robust insurance scheme covering the business and its members.
