Future Jobs Fund
The Scottish Hockey Future Jobs Fund programme is about to expand with the recruitment of new and replacement posts. These are all assisting in developing the capacity of hockey across the country.
These posts are part of the Future Jobs Fund initiative, supported by the Scottish Government. Future Jobs Fund Assistant
This position has the role of supporting the Future Jobs Fund Programme, in terms of contact with the Assistant Hockey Development Officers, ensuring the administration of the positions are well managed and providing support as required. You will need to be good with basic computer usage, be able to plan and talk to people on the phone. The position would be a good stepping stone into administration.

Assistant Hockey Development Officers
Scottish Hockey is looking for a number of Assistant Development Officers throughout the country to provide support to local Active Schools and Sports Development Teams to increase participation in hockey in certain allocated areas. The position will involve attending a UKCC level 1 course then assisting coaching in their local area. They will also assist with the local sport development team to run their programme of activities in a variety of sports. The job includes helping organise various Scottish Hockey events, such as taster sessions at local primary schools, or assisting with organising competitions and other development activities. This position would suit someone with experience of coaching and desire to move into sport development.

Youth Head Coach Position U/18 Girls
Scottish Hockey is looking to appoint a Head Coach for the U/18 Girls programme.
The position involves:
- Developing, managing and leading the coaching programme on and off the pitch
- Identification and selection of players throughout the calendar, including the Inter District competition
- Development of individual and team skills
- Attending meetings to look at the broader area of player and programme development
- Linking and liaising with National Senior and Junior coaches
The programme will run from September through to July 2011. The successful candidate will take the team to the Eurohockey Youth Championship tournament in Holland.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a Level 2 qualification or equivalent for the Under 18 position having worked with this age group and have experience at running annual programmes. All candidates will be expected to be members of the ASHC.

Higher Education Club Mentors
Scottish Hockey is now looking to recruit several university mentors. The key responsibility in this role will be supporting university hockey clubs and teams in their administration in relation to Scottish Hockey and Scottish Universities Sport. Specific duties in this capacity may include going through Scottish Hockey procedures with the club committee, acting as a trustee for the club and assisting the club in recruiting new members. Additionally, you may provide support for the club to:
• Register with Scottish Hockey
• Enter Scottish Hockey and SUS Competitions
• Register players with Scottish Hockey
• Organise training for umpires and coaches
• Organise fixtures (Notify teams, umpires, facilities etc)
• Rearrange fixtures when required
This role provides a very rewarding opportunity for someone who wishes to share their experience and would be suitable for former club members, coaches or anyone else who’s had a hand in organising university clubs or similar.

WELSH HOCKEY: HEAD OF DEVELOPMENT
Salary: £27,000 – 33,000 per annum
Location – WHU Head Office in Cardiff
The Welsh Hockey Union (WHU) is the National Governing Body of Sport for Hockey in Wales. Exciting times are here, membership is on the increase and 2009 brought many successes on and off the pitch. Hockey is an Olympic Sport and with London 2012 on the horizon we have a fantastic opportunity to drive forward the development of our sport.
The Head of Development is a key member of the senior management team and will have direct responsibility for the development of Hockey across Wales. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the post holder will also contribute to the overall development of the Welsh Hockey Union and the delivery of its strategic plan.
The post holder will be accountable for
• The development of Hockey across Wales with a particular focus on club development
• The development and implementation of the Development Strategy for Hockey in Wales
• Providing clear and decisive leadership for all staff and volunteers within the development team
