2009-2010 National Indoor League information
NATIONAL INDOOR LEAGUE INFORMATION
Division 1 of the men’s and women’s National Indoor Leagues will split into “upper” and “lower” League’s after the mid-season break. All results and points gained will be retained for the “upper” and “lower” split Leagues. All other Indoor Divisions will not be split. The details of each League schedule is:--
NATIONAL INDOOR LEAGUE DIV.1 (Men and Women)
a)
Teams will play each other once prior to the League split.
b)
After 7 games, the League will split to 4 and 4 (i.e. D1 upper 4 / D1 lower 4).
c)
Upper split (M NL1A) will play each other twice.
d)
Upper split (M NL1A) will play 7 games in 1st half of season + 6 games in 2nd half of season = 13 games in total.
e)
Upper split (M NL1A) will retain all results and points obtained from the first half of the season.
f)
Lower split (M NL1B) will play each other twice.
g)
Lower split (M NL1B) will play 7 games in 1st half of season + 6 games in 2nd half of season = 13 games in total.

a)
Teams will play each other twice during the season.
b)
This Division will not be split.
c)
Teams will play 14 games in total.
NATIONAL INDOOR LEAGUE DIV.3 (Men)
a)
Teams will play each other twice during the season.
b)
This Division will not be split.
c)
Teams will play 14 games in total.
NATIONAL INDOOR LEAGUE DIV.3 (Women)
a)
Teams will play each other three times during the season.
b)
This Division will not be split.
c)
Teams will play 12 games in total.
NATIONAL INDOOR LEAGUE DIV.4 (Men)
a)
Teams will play each other twice during the season.
b)
This Division will not be split.
c)
Teams will play 12 games in total.
NATIONAL INDOOR LEAGUE DIV.5 (Men)
a)
Teams will play each other twice during the season.
b)
This Division will not be split.
c)
Teams will play 12 games in total.
NATIONAL INDOOR LEAGUE DIV.1 KNOCK-OUT EVENT (Men and Women)
a)
The top four men’s teams and the top four women’s teams at the conclusion of the National Indoor League upper split (INL1A) will compete in a Knock-Out event.
b)
The schedule shall involved the four teams playing in a semi-final, with the winners playing each other in the final.
c)
The first placed team in INL1A (men and women) will play the fourth placed team in INL1A (men and women) in the first semi-final.
d)
The second placed team in INL1A (men and women) will play the third placed team in INL1A (men and women) in the second semi-final.
e)
The winners of the semi-final matches shall play each other in the final.
f)
The losing semi-finalists shall play 1 game in total.
g)
The finalists shall play 2 games in total.
PROMOTION & RELEGATION
PROMOTION
D2 – The highest placed 1st team in Div.2 will be promoted to Div.1. (men & women) – 2nd teams are not eligible for promotion to INL Div.1.
D3 – The highest placed team in Div.3 will be promoted to Div.2. (men & women)
D4 – The highest placed team in Div.4 will be promoted to Div.3. (men)
D5 – The highest placed team in Div.5 will be promoted to Div.4. (men)
RELEGATION
D1 - The lowest placed team in Div.1B will be relegated to Div.2. (men & women)
D2 - The lowest placed team in Div.2 will be relegated to Div.3. (men & women)
D3 - The lowest placed team in Div.3 will be relegated to Div.4. (men)
D4 - The lowest placed team in Div.4 will be relegated to Div.5. (men)
EUROPEAN QUALIFICATION
The highest placed team in the men’s and women’s Div.1 upper split (NL1A) will qualify as Scotland’s representatives in the EuroHockey Indoor Championship competition. The competition details will be confirmed upon the completion of the 2010 championships.
