Bell in tune for Grove

Grove Menzieshill triumphed 3-1 over rivals Milne Craig Western in the game of the day in the Subway indoor national league at Bells Sports Centre in Perth.   

The Dundonians were two up at the interval through open play strikes from Ali Bell and Linda Clement.  Morag McLellan pulled one back for the Glasgow side early in the second half, but a penalty corner strike by Bell a minute later sealed the points for Grove who had the luxury of a late penalty by Louise Carroll saved by Western keeper Amy Gibson.

Earlier in the day Grove defeated newly promoted Granite City Wanderers 8-1, Bell scored a hat-trick while there two for Leigh Fawcett, Hazel Irvine got the consolation for the Aberdonians.

Western also had a simple task in seeing off Grove`s second string 9-0, Susan Bruce scored three while there were doubles for Susan McGilvray and Kareena Marshall.

However, champions VWS Dundee Wanderers head the table by a single goal from Tayside rivals Grove to complete the Tayside monopoly,   Hat-tricks for Julie Bryce and Rachael Osborne was the foundation of Wanderers 8-2 win over Clydesdale in their first game of the day. 

After that Wanderers saw off Kelburne 6-2.   But it was 2-2 at the interval, penalty corners from Amy Rowan and Sam Sangster scored for Wanderers but the Paisley side drew level with goals from Amy Hislop and Emma Barlow.  It was all Wanderers after the interval, Julie Bryce and Rowan both scored twice to complete a 6-2 victory.

Kelburne retained their fourth place in the division with a 3-1 victory over CALA, Amy Hislop got two while Amanda Maxwell scored the other, Amy Brodie got the consolation for the Edinburgh outfit. 

Granite City Wanderers broke their duck with a 4-1 win over Grove A, their goals came from Alex Walker (2), Emily Watson and Shone Brough.  However, the Aberdonians failed to maintain the momentum by losing 7-1 to CALA in their second game, two goals each from Amy Brodie and Kerry Smyth won the game for the Edinburgh outfit.

At the moment the bottom of the league is taken up by Grove A and Clydesdale, both sides fought out a 1-1 draw.
