Community Jobs for Hockey
14 September 2011
Scottish Hockey have been successful in bidding for 14 Staff from Community Jobs Scotland with the SCVO. These staff will be composed of 12 Assistant Hockey Development Officers and 2 office staff.
This programme is building on the Future jobs Fund programme run in the past two years that exposed an additional 17,000 young people to hockey whilst also offering 31 young people at least 6 months work experience.
The Assistant Hockey Development Officers will be based in the field, coaching, and delivering hockey, around Scotland. They will all receive training as UKCC level 1 coaches, have training in First Aid and in Child Protection. They will then be deployed in partnership with Local Authorities to increase the delivery of hockey in each area. It is hoped through the programme to expose an additional 6000 young people to hockey.
The office based positions will be to assist in communications and competitions. By adding to these two areas it is hoped that we can increase the promotion of hockey and provide support to the changing competition structure this year.
Community Jobs Scotland is a government programme, run by SCVO, to help young people get back into employment. The positions are open to young people 18 to 24 years old. They must also have been on Job Seekers Allowance for at least 6 months to be eligible. Applications need to be made through Job Centre Plus.
