Coach Required for Madras FP
21 February 2012
Madras FP's Men's Hockey Club is looking to recruit a coach to improve and develop the playing strength of the Club, in particular working with our younger players.
Madras FP's, based in St Andrews, Fife, is a small club of around 35-40 players, currently running two Teams in the Midland Regional Leagues (the second team is our development squad). We already work closely with local primary and secondary schools in an attempt to provide the club with a regular feed of new players, part of your role will be to support our aim of developing their early and continuing interest in hockey. We currently train as a group on a Thursday evening from 19:00 till 20.00 at the University of St Andrews Sports Centre.
Your role as coach would be to plan and deliver - engaging, stimulating and productive Thursday evening sessions. Within the session you would be expected to dedicate the majority of your time to working with our players, particularly the 14-18 years olds, to ensure they have a solid grasp of the basic skills required to play the game, developing their abilities to a level where they are able to contribute to the success of our two teams individually and as a team including at set pieces! We are hopeful of recruiting an assistant coach from the local student community to help with the running of training sessions and part of your role will be to lead, develop and support this individual.
You should have experience of coaching youth hockey at a development level and of programme planning and organisation. You should hold as a minimum the UKCC level 1 hockey coaching qualification. You will report to the Club Committee comprising the office bearers, meetings are generally held quarterly. A fee will be paid for each session £15 is the currently recommended level, but subject to discussion, plus travel expenses.
If you are interested in applying for or finding out more about this position, please contact either 1st Team captain Jeremy Upton or Club President Richard Tough.
