Inverleith and Strathallan triumph in U18 Indoor Cup finals

INVERLEITH CLAIM THE TITLE
Inverleith were crowned under 18 champions when they beat Hutchesons` Grammar School 7-2 in the final of the U18 Girls' Indoor Cup at Bells Sports Centre in Perth.
The heroine of the occasion was undoubtedly Sarah Jamieson who scored five goals, Eilidh Thomson and Emma McGregor got the others.
The Edinburgh side were also in fine scoring form in the semi-final by beating Granite City Wanderers 5-2, McGregor and Thomson both scored twice while Lynsay Cakette got the other, Emily Watson got both consolations for the Aberdonians.
Paige Denholm was the catalyst with two goals in Hutchesons` 3-1 win over Glasgow Academy in the other semi-final, Jennifer Eadie getting the other. The Academy`s sole counter came from Gillian Hamilton.
Earlier in the day Inverleith topped pool A, but only by a single goal from Glasgow Academy. The head to head ended in a thrilling 3-3 draw, Jamieson was again on form with a double while Elspeth Couper did the same for Glasgow. The Edinburgh side went on to beat Kelso High School 7-2, McGregor scoring a hat-trick while Laura Page picked up a double. Glasgow Academy also beat Kelso 4-1 with Alison Beattie getting two goals.
Hutchesons` won pool B after a 3-3 draw with Strathallan, followed by a narrow 2-1 win over Granite City Wanderers, Helena McKlevie and Paige Denholm getting the goals. In the other match the Aberdonians scored a 3-1 victory over Strathallan, Morven Duff notching two goals.
In the other placing matches, Granite City Wanderers picked up bronze with a 4-3 win over Glasgow Academy while Strathallan finished fifth after seeing off Kelso 4-1.
STRATHALLAN SEAL VICTORY IN BOYS COMPETITION
A second half goal from Alistair Wood gave Strathallan a 2-1 victory over Watsonians in the final of the boys' U18 Indoor Scottish Cup at Bells Sports Centre in Perth. Jack Burton gave Strathallan the lead in 15 minutes but Watsonians had quickly equalised through Danny Kane just before the interval.
Strathallan just shaded their semi-final 4-3 against VWS Dundee Wanderers, the scorers were Eric Wand, Tom Elder, Christian Goldkline and Wood again. Stuart Nickerson scored the winner from the spot to give Watsonians a 4-3 win over Kelburne in a penalty shoot-out after the sides were deadlocked at 4-4 in normal time. Kane got two for the Edinburgh side with the others coming from Danny Prentice and Phil Bryans while Jason Cairns scored twice for the Paisley side.
Both Strathallan and Watsonians emerged as the top two from pool B with the former taking the head to head by 2-0, Alistair Wood and Burton were on target. Thereafter Strathallan beat Greaves Clydesdale 2-1 only to lose by a single goal to Aberdeen Grammar School. Watsonians just made the semi-final having scored one more goal than Clydesdale after the sides drew 3-3 in their pool match, Kane notched two while Bryans got the other for the Edinburgh side. Earlier Watsonians had beaten Aberdeen 4-1, Kane and Prentice getting two each.
Kelburne won pool A in style with straight wins over Gordonians (2-0), Dundee Wanderers (2-1) and CALA Edinburgh (3-1). The other qualifier was Wanderers, the Taysiders also saw off Gordonians (2-0) and CALA (3-2).
Kelburne picked up the bronze with a 6-1 win over Dundee Wanderers, Clydesdale fifth place after seeing off Aberdeen 7-1 and Gordonians just shaded seventh after a narrow 5-4 victory over CALA Edinburgh.
