Schools’ Cup 2018 is here

The Scottish Schools’ Cup 2018 finals day is upon us and its set to be yet another exciting day of youth hockey at the event on Friday 16 March.

The Glasgow National Hockey Centre will be the venue and there is great excitement at the prospect of one of Scottish Hockey’s best nights on the calendar.

In a classic Open Boys’ cup final last year Stewart Melville College came out on top, and this year they’re back defending their title against Hutchesons Grammar School.

Stewart Melville College coach Mr Constable said, “We’re delighted to be in another final and determined to enjoy the best night on the Scottish Hockey calendar!”

Dollar Academy take on Craigholme in the Open Girls’ Cup final in what promises to be one of the top matches of the day. Both sides have been on top form throughout the tournament it promises to be a final that delivers action, drama, and goals.

One of the other standout matches is the Aspire Girls’ Cup final between Aberdeen Grammar School and Trinity. Jemma Brown and Emma Stirling from Trinity are looking forward to the contest.

They said, “We are both incredibly proud of the girls reaching the final of the Aspire Cup for the second year running. It is a great achievement to get this far in the competition and we are delighted that the squad have the opportunity to represent Trinity Academy in the final.”

“The team have grown together as a squad this season and we wish them all the luck for this year’s final!”

Playing in the other finals throughout the day will be Harris Academy, Beaconhurst, Renfrew Schools, Douglas Academy, High Schools of Glasgow, George Watson’s College, Stewart Meilville College, Perth, Millburn, High Schools of Dundee, Strathallan School, The Edinburgh Academy, Jordanhill, The Glasgow Academy, Hawick High School, Loretto School, and Glasgow School of Sport.

There are twelve fantastic matches being played across two pitches at the iconic Glasgow 2018 venue – the action is not to be missed.

Entry to the Schools’ Cup 2018 finals is free and the venue opens at 11am ahead of the first final of the day at 11:30am.
