COACH INSURANCE POLICY

The Coach Insurance policy can be accessed by registered coaches who are members of the Association of Hockey Coaches.

It provides a facility to support coaches in the event that they are accused of abusing or assaulting children or young people with whom they are working.

Legal Defence Cover

The policy provides legal representation if an event arising from an individual's involvement with Scottish Hockey leads to criminal prosecution against that individual.

All legal costs incurred with the insurer's agreement will be met, whether the case is won or lost.

The policy will also defend the individual if civil action is taken against them under:

  • the Race Relation Act
  • the Sex Discrimination Act
  • the Fair Employment Act
  • Section 22 and 23 of the Data Protection Act

Cover is also available to defend an individual following an event where they are prosecuted as a result of using a motor vehicle. The incident that the insurers are being asked to cover must have taken place after the date when they were asked to arrange insurance.

24 Hour Legal Advice

The package provides access to the insurer's specialist legal advice department 24 hours a day. Not only can an individual utilise the facility if they are concerned about a possible prosecution, they can also phone for general advice on any area of the law affecting them as individuals.

Counselling

This service provides confidential counselling by telephone, and where appropriate, referral to relevant voluntary or professional services.
