COACHING STRATEGY FOR GREAT BRITAIN
Scottish Hockey, together with England Hockey and Welsh Hockey, have launched the Coaching Strategy for Great Britain - the Strategy and the Interactive Coach Development Model.

Vision:
'By 2016 Hockey across Great Britain will have a world leading coaching system, which will deliver active, skilled and appropriately qualified coaches to every stage of our player pathways'.
Objectives:
- Increase quality & quantity of active appropriately qualified and skilled coaches and coach educators
- Deliver the required number of coaching hours in the player and
coach pathways
Provide and promote the coach and coach educator pathways - Increase participation, retention and standards across the player and coach pathway
Benefits:
Players
- Support through better quality coaching and highly informed coaches
- Retention of players as their satisfaction will be increased by an improvement in performance, at whatever level of the game they play.
- Talent ID will be enhanced through a structured and communicated player pathway enabling more opportunity for the players to reach their potential
Coaches
- Coaches will be more likely to achieve their potential
- More structured approach for coaches to be deployed and employed
- Greater access to appropriate CPD (continuing professional development) and training
- A GB wide support network for coaches - teamwork approach
- Access to the latest technical and tactical resources
The Sport
- Legacy for future of hockey in GB (longevity for the sport)
- Resource issues both of staff, workforce and practical resources addressed
- Coaching to become self-sustaining and not reliant on grants and sponsorship
- Meeting the standards set by outside agencies and improving the quality of the sport
- Making sure it is sustainable open and transparent, with efficient and effective structures in place
- Leading examples of good practice throughout all areas of the sport
- Coaching as a priority to make sure that all areas of the sport, player pathway have appropriately qualified coaches
