2008 Coaching Courses


Leaders Courses

Sport Tayside and Fife have organised through Angus Council a course at Arbroath Sports Centre on 23rd November.  If you are interested in attending please contact Elanor Cormack, Hockey Development Manager for further details at elanor.cormack@dundeecity.gov.uk

A  Midlothian leader’s course has been organised for October 2008. This course will be held over two sessions on Tuesday 7th and 14th October between 4pm – 7pm. The venue is Ladywood Leisure Centre, Penicuik, Midlothian and the cost is £30. If you are interested in attending please contact John McCrossan at john@mccrossan.fslife.co.uk


UKCC Level I Courses 

Courses around the country have all been delivered for 2008 and preparation is underway for 2009 dates and venues.

UKCC  Level 2 Course
This course is a 4 day course and there will be a mixture of on and off course practical and theoretical modules to be completed and after the initial four days a coaching log book is collated of 6 sessions and a final assessment is made while coaching. Experienced Coach Educators /Assessors and National Coaches will be involved with various parts of the course. 

Requirements - participants should be 18 years old, hold a Scottish Hockey Level 1 qualification or UKCC Level 1, a Safeguarding and Protecting Children certificate and must complete a First Aid qualification.  


UKCC Level 3 Course 
This course is delivered through a 3 day residential, which is currently held in England.  Six Modules have to be attended on team defence, goalkeeping, unit play, goalscoring, attacking outletting and attacking final third transition.  A portfolio is collated on various areas such as planning, fitness, management and goal settinig over a season with a team and 2 assessments are made while coaching.

Core Skills Roadshows
These can be organised on a district, club or  local authority basis for coaches, players and volunteers involved in improving their knowledge of hockey.  They are approximately two hours in length and include theoretical discussion groups set up in relation to various skills and tactical concepts.
