Events

With your support, events such as the national and district outdoor and indoor hockey leagues, youth leagues, Scottish Cups and other tournaments continue to grow and give as many participants as possible the opportunity to participate in competitive hockey. In addition, the SHU offers various coaching educational opportunities while offering umpires officiating options and ratings prospects.

Insurance Benefits

All SHU registered players are covered by the SHUs personal insurance, which includes life and limb, dental and optical cover.

Discounts

In addition to the other benefits you receive from the Scottish Hockey Union, members qualify for discounts from SHU partners including the world's largest sandwich chain Subway.  SHU members are the only people in Scotland to benefit from a 20% discount with Subway.

But did you also know that your membership fee also helps fund the following initiatives:

Grassroots development programmes

At the grassroots level, SHU funding goes towards helping to support the best development programmes throughout Scotlands schools and clubs. Your membership fees will help develop the sport through youth camps, national and district leagues, clubs and other opportunities at regional level.

National team development

Recognised as the National Governing Body for field hockey in Scotland by the International Hockey Federation (FIH), the Scottish Hockey Union is responsible for the training and selection of Scotland's National Teams for competition in all international competitions where Scotland is represented and, with the other home nations, for the Olympics as part of the GB hockey squads.

Education and Development

The SHU conducts courses, camps and professional development programmes to provide for the growth of the sport while providing continuing education to established players, coaches and umpires.  Registration fees allow us to provide this service to our members and we strive to ensure that we are able to provide the best and most up-to-date courses using qualified leaders and coaches.

Getting involved

Your membership should symbolise your partnership with an organisation dedicated to ensuring the continued growth and promotion of our sport. Your membership fees are just the beginning of this relationship and are essential to the life of the game.

Whether you coach, umpire, play or just love the game, the SHU encourages you to get the most out of your membership. Attend the events. Participate in the professional development programmes so that you can coach or become an umpire. Promote the sport. Take pride in your teams or simply be a supporter of Scottish hockey by helping with our fundraising initiatives. With that, we hope you will take with you the gratification of supporting and furthering the advancement of the sport you love.
