Schools hockey is one of the most exciting and entertaining areas of the sport. Many hockey players first play the game in school and for many it sets them on a path where they participate in the sport for life.

There are a number of schools’ leagues and tournaments, the most notable being the Scottish Schools’ Cup. The Schools’ Cup is one of the most popular, fun, and exciting events on the Scottish Hockey calendar.

NASUWT Primary Festival

The ‘NASUWT National Primary Festival’ has been held annually and brings together young hockey players from throughout Scotland, including those as far afield as Shetland, to play in a fun yet competitive environment. The event has been running for the past five years and involves over 400 children with a range of abilities. In 2015 the event moved to the new Glasgow National Hockey Centre, home of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games hockey competition.
