STRONGER GAME
Long Term Player Development is an integral part of the work we do with players, clubs, schools, and coaches throughout Scotland.
Scottish Hockey entered into consultation with these stakeholders about Long Term Player Development. You can download and read about this consultation in the following documents:
This process led to the establishment of Scottish Hockey's Long Term Player Development Model - Stronger Game.
Stronger Game
Our Stronger Game model prioritises the development of you as the individual hockey player first and foremost.
This approach will enable players to enjoy hockey to the highest level that they desire in their playing careers.
For players, the philosophies underpinning Stronger Game centre on five important areas of player development:
- Technical and Tactical Skills
- Physical Conditioning
- Fundamental Movement Skills
- Psycho-Behavioural Skills
- Lifestyle Management.
These areas are considered across players of all ages, starting from introduction to hockey at a young age, right the way through to senior level. It also forms the framework for the development of the sport across all its disciplines.
It will impact programmes in clubs, schools and districts, as well as at international level.
Scottish Hockey is currently working with a number of groups to create a comprehensive resource pack.
At present, an outline of what Stronger Game aims to do can be found by downloading the Stronger Game overview.
