Scottish Hockey has access to a large number of coaching resources from highly respected sources from around the world. It is possible to loan these resources for a short period before deciding if you wish to buy them.
STIX Resource Pack
This is a resource for teachers and coaches of 5-14 year olds and provides session plans over a number of weeks, which are dependant on the ability of the players. Guide booklets for quatro, mini and junior hockey games are included along with a video introducing STIX and showing some of the skills in practice.
Hockey CD Rom
CD Rom from Dutch Fieldhockey recommended by the FIH Coaching Committee. It is an easy to navigate, interactive CD-Rom with over 100 video clips, over 150 pictures and over 650 field (printable) exercises.
Higher Still resource
After two years of research and field work the SHU Higher Still resource is completed.
This resource forms the sports specific content of hockey as part of the Higher Still Physical Education course. It touches upon all strands but there is a strong association with skills and techniques.
There are specimen answer sheets as well as blank information sheets that can be used for classroom or homework purposes.
This resource can also be used as a support material for teachers who do not teach Higher Still but deliver hockey through PE lessons.
'The key to better hockey' CD Rom
Horst Wein, FIH Master Coach, explains the development of young players and provides inofrmation on games and drills with over 300 illustrations and photos to help put the concepts in motion.
GK CD Rom
Goalkeeping Coaching Manual written by John Hurst and Helen Birch.
This covers all aspects of goalkeeping and provides numerous coaching points and skills practices that can be used for all levels of goalkeeper.
It is possible to print practices or watch and takes notes from various parts of the CD Rom.
Team Coaching DVD
This series of DVD’s allows a unique insight into modern team preparation for all levels of hockey.
Hockey Latino: This provides an in-depth study of the Argentinean approach to hockey, it allows the coach to observe play and make decisions to the questions that are posed. There is then an analysis made to highlight the answers and provides a personal view through interviews with an International player and Argentina’s Coach.
Hockey Down Under: This provides an in-depth study of the Australian style of play to hockey, it allows the coach to observe play and make decisions to the questions that are posed. There is then an analysis made to highlight the answers and interviews with the International players.
