Umpire Appointments Software

The new umpire appointments software is in its infancy; all clubs and their nominated umpires have been asked to update their details to get things rolling.

The appointments system will integrate with Scottish Hockey’s website and manage umpire availability and appointments.  It also allows clubs to provide feedback on umpires who have officiated their matches.

Appointments will be relayed to clubs and umpires directly from the system, so everyone will be aware of updated or changed appointments as soon as it happens.  The system will do away with the manual collation of umpire requirements, such as availability, as this will be input directly onto the system by the individual umpire.

Club secretaries and umpires, those directly involved with testing the system, will have been communicated with regarding this issue and their participation and patience is greatly appreciated during this initial period.

Main Benefits:

- Easier for umpires to add and changed their availability and check what appointments they have been given
- Easier for Clubs to check who has been appointed to their game
- Easier for Umpire Appointments Committee members to manage appointments, coaching and assessments
- Ability for Clubs to provide feedback about the umpires

Current procedures are still to be used for:

- Confirming with opposition and appointed umpires the times and venues of the game
- Recording of disciplinary cards through MRF's but beneficial if umpires added this to the Umpire Apointments Software for the Appointments Committee to track.
- If illness or injury prevents the umpires attending the game contact the appropriate Appointments Committee member as soon as possible

A Powerpoint presentation by Norrie Urquhart from the National Umpires Seminar is available for further information.
