Youth Team Managers

Scottish Hockey is looking to appoint Team Managers to the following programmes for the next two years:

• Under 16 Boy's: Development and National Teams
• Under 16 Girl's: Development and National Teams

The positions involves managing the programme on and off the pitch. Key functions include planning and organising annual programme activities.

It will also require the successful candidates to be a part of a motivated team to look at the broader area of both player and programme development.  

The programme for each age group and gender begins in August 2009.  For further information on the youth squads programmes, prospective candidates should refer to the international section of the Scottish Hockey website. 

The ideal candidate should have experience as a team manager, being part of dynamic motivated team. Also having sound business knowledge is advantageous. Relevant experience in sporting activities or performance management would be beneficial to the applicant.

President - Great Britain Hockey Limited

Great Britain Hockey Limited is the organisation responsible for overseeing the selection, preparation and participation of men’s and women’s teams in Olympic Games and other international events. N accordance with the requirements of the company’s Articles of Association the organisation is seeking to appoint a President for the next 4 years.

The role includes chairing the GBHL board meetings (3 or 4 per year) plus liaison with the company’s stakeholders including the associations of the home countries, UK Sport, BOA, FIH and LOCOG. There will also be the requirement to represent GB hockey at other meetings and events.

You will be part of an innovative, dynamic Sports Development Section that aims to ensure opportunities exist for regular life long participation in physical activity and sport, and for every individual to enter sport and reach their highest potential limited only by their ability, drive and ambition.

Qualified to HND level in a sports related field or having related work place experience, you will be responsible for ensuring progressive pathways exist for children and young people to participate in a variety of sports including Hockey and Athletics. You must have practical paid/voluntary sports coaching experience, possess at least one National Governing Body Coaching Qualification, and be able to demonstrate a clear knowledge and understanding of Sports Development practices, in particular, coach development and the issues facing sports clubs to operate and develop effectively.

Experience in coaching Hockey or Athletics, a clear enthusiasm for the sport and knowledge of Scotland's Long Term Player Development principles are essential for this post.

You will have experience of organising sports events/festivals, possess excellent communication skills and be able to motivate others.

A current driving licence and access to a car is essential and you must be prepared to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
