Wiener AC Whisk By Orient Lyngby

After a balanced match where Wiener AC dominated the first half and Orient Lyngby the second, the Austrian’s pulled past the Danes in the last minute to win by one.

The match started with Orient Lyngby missing three consecutive opportunities to score off penalty corners between the third and fifth minute. In minute 13, Lyngby’s goalkeeper Laase Lindegaard stopped an attempt to score but as the ball bounced; Wiener’s Robert Buchta took advantage of the situation and scored his side’s first goal.

A similar situation took place three minutes later, when Stricker Dominik scored for Wiener AC after a failed first attempt, this was answered by Christopher Hellstrand for Orient Lyngby soon after. In the last minute of the first half, Georg Jelinek scored for the Austrians will a skilful move that deceived Orient Lyn by players. Michel Max still had a last opportunity to score for Wiener before the end of the first half but hit the frame.

Orient Lyngby started the second half motivated and after a spectacular combination of passes, Casper Gulbrandsen scored the 2-3 just 25 seconds after the start. In the seventh minute a penalty corner in favour of the Danish was stopped by one of Wiener AC’s players on the line. Guldbrandsen failed a second penalty corner but in a third penalty corner attempt Christopher Hellstrand netted the ball with sophisticated technique.

On edge, Orient Lyngby pushed forward and clearly dominated; until the end of the match they had several opportunities to score including one disallowed goal that was invalidated due to a fault. After putting in a great effort, Dane Guldbrandsen secured the 3-4.

With two minutes to go, Wiener AC decided to play without a goalkeeper in order to win the game, which resulted in two consecutive penalties called against them where their goalkeeper had to do a reappearing act. Luckily for Wiener, he stopped both attempts. After that, Austrian Dominik scored the equaliser and it appeared the game would end in a draw but a penalty corner in the last moment was again put away by Dominik for Wiener.
