2021 EuroHockey Indoor Club Championships cancelled
EuroHockey has announced that the 2021 EuroHockey indoor club events have been cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and because there isn’t a realistic window to re-schedule these events in 2021.
During the EHF Executive Board meeting that took place (via video conference) on Saturday 31st October, the EuroHockey Board discussed all EuroHockey indoor competition matters at length, led by Walter Kapounek.
Due to the ongoing impact of COVID 19 all over Europe, the Board unanimously agreed to cancel the EuroHockey Indoor Club Championships 2021.

The EHF vice president, Walter Kapounek said “Yesterday we announced that we (the EHF Executive Board) have agreed to put the EuroHockey Indoor Junior Championships on hold until December 2021. (click here)
As previously announced it was EuroHockey’s intention to try and play as many events as possible, in the fairest way, even if not all the teams could travel.
However, given the worsening COVID19 situation around Europe, the EuroHockey Board concluded that it had no option but to cancel the EuroHockey Indoor Club Championships season in 2021 to prevent a situation that individuals had to make the decision for themselves.
Unlike the EuroHockey Indoor Junior Championships, EuroHockey does not believe that there is a realistic window to re-schedule these events in 2021. So has taken the hard decision to cancel.”
The EHF would like to confirm that this is the situation in relation to qualification for the EuroHockey Indoor Club Championships, 2022:
The current hosts, if submitted as the representative by their National Association, will have the 1st right to refusal to host the 2022 Indoor Club Championships. EuroHockey will come back to all member associations with more information soon.
As some national associations will play a national indoor league in 2021 and others will not, the EHF has decided that each National Association can decide which team they will submit as their representative for the 2022 Indoor Club Championships; this can be either their national indoor team of 2020 or their national indoor team of 2021.
Walter concluded, “I concur with our President, Marijke Fleuren’s comment yesterday that we hope that the whole European hockey family stays safe and well and we look forward to being back at our EuroHockey events as soon as we can to play with and against friends.”
