Big fixtures coming up for Scotland U21 men
Scotland U21 men are in action in two test series’ against Wales and USA seniors at Uddingston.
The Scots face Wales U21 men on Friday 17th June at 19:00; Saturday 18th June at 14:00 and Sunday 19th June at 11:30.
Then with USA seniors in town to play at the upcoming 4-Nations in Uddingston Scotland U21 men will provide tough opposition on Wednesday 22nd June at 14:30; Saturday 25th June at 11:30; and Sunday 26th June at 11:30.
It’s a huge year for the squad as they bid to become the first Scottish men’s team to qualify for a Junior World Cup since 2001.
The team can make history at the U21 EuroHockey Championships this summer, where they will target a top five finish despite needing a top six spot to qualify for the Junior World Cup.
It is also the first Scotland U21s men’s squad to compete in the European top division since 2012, and they will aim to be the first Scotland Men’s U21 team to retain their status in the top division since 2002.
At the EuroHockey Championships in Ghent on 24-30 July Scotland feature alongside top-ranked competition in Belgium; the Netherlands; Germany; England; France; Russia; and Spain, with the top six reaching the World Cup.
Head Coach Graham Moodie said, ‘Following exams we’ve had a decent month of training together and we’re looking forward to seeing what progress we have made. Wales will be a good test and starts the main games phase of our programme.’
