Clubs get to grips with number crunching at finance workshop
Eight clubs from West District attended a successful ‘Club Finance Made Easy’ workshop last weekend at the Glasgow National Hockey Centre.
The full day course was offered to clubs to assist with financial planning and to support club treasure roles within the committee.
The workshop focussed on various different elements of club finance and sustainability including cashflow forecasting, saving time on financial procedures and how to get finances into a position to make major investments which could support the development of each club.
Clubs who attended received a step by step workbook on how to easily make the changes, template spreadsheets to implement within their club and ideas for increasing income which helps to make clubs more financially sustainable.
The course was delivered by Ewan Menzies of Castle Strategy and Kevin Pringle, CEO of Basketball Scotland. Ongoing support will be offered to the clubs via the regional development network and through Ewan Menzies.
Clubs who attended were very positive about the course, stating:
“It was a great course, formatting and increasing profits were particularly useful”.
“Very informative course with a lot of information to take back to the club”.
The Development Team will be consulting with clubs on more training workshops to offer, with a focus on club growth and strengthening club structures.
