Disciplinary Outcome: Mr Cameron Scott (Falkirk GHG)
The Case
Cameron Scott had made inappropriate posts on Facebook, which were in breach of Scottish Hockey’s Ethics Manual and Social Media Guidelines.
Outcome
Following a Complaints Panel Hearing on Thursday 4th July 2013, it was determined, after due deliberation and agreement by the Panel, that Cameron Scott had breached Scottish Hockey’s Social Media Guidelines following inappropriate posts on Facebook.
The panel agreed that the following sanctions were appropriate:
A written reprimand should be placed in Cameron Scott’s file
Cameron Scott should send a letter of apology to all parties
Cameron Scott should be banned for 2 (two) matches
Scottish Hockey Chief Executive Pam Scott stated, “Scottish Hockey encourages all our members to use social media in a positive manner so that it enhances their enjoyment of the sport. It is a great tool for promotion of club activities and information, and more importantly celebrating the successes and achievements.
“However, it is not a tool for, inappropriate content, abuse or bringing the game into disrepute. We encourage members to take a step back and think about what they are posting online. We also encourage members to report social media content that they feel is inappropriate. Any such incidents will be dealt with appropriately.”
