Following a meeting of club representatives in Perth yesterday, Scottish Hockey’s Management Committee can confirm the following outcomes;

Proposal for playoffs format including two legged semi-finals and two legged final accepted and will be implemented for 2014/15 season in Men’s and Women’s Division 1 competitions

The team in first place after 18 games in Men’s and Women’s Division 1 will be awarded the league title and qualification for lowest European spot.

The Teams finishing in positions 1-4 after 18 games in Men’s and Women’s Division 1 will advance to the playoffs.

1st will play 4th with home advantage for the second leg going to the higher ranked team

2nd will play 3rd with home advantage for the second leg going to the higher ranked team.

The winner of each semi-final will be determined by an aggregate score. If the scores are level after the second game, the match will go to a penalty shoot-out. There is no ‘away goals’.

The winners of each semi-final will progress to a two leg final on one weekend at Glasgow National Hockey Centre. The same aggregate score rule as above will apply for determining the winner of the final.

The winners of the playoff final will qualify for Europe taking the highest European qualification spot. They team will also be awarded a newly introduced National Champions Trophy.

Should the winner of the playoffs also be the team that has won the league title, the lowest European spot will then be awarded to the playoff runners up.

The Teams in positions 5 and 6 after 18 games in Men’s and Women’s Division 1 will be ‘safe’ and will play no more games.

The Teams in positions 7,8 and 9 after 18 games in Men’s and Women’s Division 1 will advance to the relegation playoffs with the team that finishes second in Men’s and Women’s Division 2.

The winner of each relegation match will be determined by an aggregate score. If the scores are level after the second game, the match will go to a penalty shoot-out. There is no ‘away goals’.

7th will play 2nd (Div2) with home advantage for the second leg going to the higher ranked team

8th will play 9th with home advantage for the second leg going to the higher ranked team.

The losers of each semi-final will progress to a two leg final on one weekend at Glasgow National Hockey Centre. The same aggregate score rule as above will apply for determining the winner of the final. The loser of that final will play in Division 2 the following season.

We would like to thank all clubs, districts and individual members who have helped get the process to this end point.
