Double header weekend in Men’s programme

There is a double header weekend to look forward to in the Men’s
Aberdeen Asset Management National League as teams begin to make up
for the late start to the programme due to the recent World League
in Portugal.

Glynhill Hotel Kelburne return to domestic action following
their successful participation in the EHL at East Grinstead which
saw the qualify for the next round at Easter for only the second
time.

Inverleith are the visitors on Saturday to Bellahouston (12.00)
who as Manager Harry Coles remarked “appear to have started the
season with a few decent results whilst scoring a number of goals
into the bargain.” Kelburne have a number of of bumps and bruises
to contend with after a testing weekend down south with Gareth Hall
the most notable concern with a back injury.

There are further issues for the Paisley side to face on Sunday
for the local derby against PSL Clydesdale at Titwood (14.00) with
Michael Bremner and Alan Forsyth due to be on International duty
with the GB Under 20 squad.

Coles finished by saying “I feel the overall performance last
weekend can only have a positive effect on our confidence looking
forward to the challenges ahead. Our younger players performed very
well last weekend which can only have a beneficial effect in the
long term.”

Possibly the most testing weekend awaits Grange who on Saturday
clash with Western Wildcats at Peffermill (14.45) and the following
day face a Capital derby against Inverleith at the same venue
(14.00.)

Grange coach Colin Clarke views this as “a tough weekend with
both teams more than capable of causing us problems if we do not
perform to our potential.” Clarke singled out Wildcats Dougie
Simpson and Scott McCartney as the biggest threat on Saturday.

Opposite number Vishal Marwaha views the weekend similarly
saying “It is a very important weekend as you cannot afford to fall
behind with so few games in this curtailed season.” Marwaha will be
hoping that his team can play with the level of intensity shown
last weekend against Clydesdale where “we closed down much better
and were more dynamic in attack than we were when we lost at home
to Grove Menzieshill a fortnight ago.”

Sunday sees the Wildcats entertain an AMN Hillhead (14.00) who
have made a slow start to the season but have upset Marwaha’s side
in the recent past with the Wildcat’s coach pointing out “Hillhead
are a well organised team.”

Early season front runners Grove Menzieshill travel to take on
an AAM Gordonians team looking to kick start their season at
Countesswells (12.30) where the Tayside team will be looking
to return to winning ways after losing out in a thriller against
Grange last weekend.  Menzieshill then return home on Sunday
to take on newcomers Watsonians at DISC (13.00)

The busy weekend programme is completed with games on Saturday
when Hillhead enjoy home advantage against Edinburgh
University(16.05) and Watsonians host Clydesdale at Mary Erskine’s
School(15.30.) The final game on Sunday sees Edinburgh University
entertain Gordonians(12.30.)
