Full points for Menzieshill, Inverleith and Kelburne

INDOOR NATIONAL LEAGUE  –
MEN        BELL`S SPORTS CENTRE
IN PERTH

Grove Menzieshill and Inverleith served notice of their
commitment to the indoor game with comfortable victories over
Western Wildcats and PSL Clydesdale in the opening day of the
indoor national league at Bell`s Sports Centre in Perth, but
Glynhill Kelburne are also hanging in there with two wins over
Dundee Wanderers and Grange.

The champions were first up against Wildcats and were ahead in
only two minutes through captain Chris Wilson.   The
goals continued at regular intervals through Ross McPherson, Allan
Law (a new recruit from Grange) from a penalty corner, Ross Stott
and McPherson again after a solo run from Wilson for a five goal
lead.    Just on the interval Neil Sommerville
grabbed a consolation for the Wildcats.

Nothing altered after the interval, Wilson added the sixth, the
Taysiders were reduced in numbers when Gavin Tomlinson picked up a
yellow card, Craig Falconer, Stott again and finally Gavin
Tomlinson completed the scoring with an overtime penalty corner for
a 9-1 win.   This was a totally professional performance
by the Dundonians while the Wildcats were reduced to a few
individualistic forays up the pitch.

The Taysiders just never stopped scoring in their 21-1 win over
luckless Clydesdale.   Captain Chris Wilson led from the
front with a magnificent seven, there were four each for Stott and
McPherson, Gavin Byers and Falconer both scored twice while
Tomlinson and Mike Ross added one each.

Challengers Inverleith also picked up six points from the same
opposition, although their goal tally failed to match the full flow
of the champions.   Against Clydesdale, the Edinburgh
side were two up in just three minutes through Derek Salmond and a
low penalty corner conversion by Adam McKenzie.   A
Clydesdale revival looked on the cards with a goal by Ciaran
Crawford, then the Titwood outfit missed two penalty
corners.   Inverleith took full advantage and Salmond
made it 3-1 three minutes later.    Then Inverleith
striker Phil Hall went on a personal scoring spree, he scored a
hat-trick before the interval, then two more in the second half for
a nap hand.     In the meantime, Salmond
notched his own hat-trick and Chris Duncan, McKenzie from the spot
and Graham Moodie completed the Inverleith tally.

The Wildcats encounter was a much closer affair, especially in
the first half as the teams turned round at 3-3.
Douglas Simpson opened for the Wildcats, but Inverleith retaliated
with strikes by David Guy, Fabian Wolski and McKenzie from a
penalty corner.   Towards the interval the Wildcats
clawed their way back to parity through Peter Martin and Joe
Simpson.  But the second half belonged to Inverleith,
Salmond`s two goals early in the second half killed off the
contest, then Ross Jamieson and McKenzie again added the final
touches.

Glynhill Kelburne were the only other side to finish with six
points from their day`s work.    It started with a
rather messy 6-5 win over Dundee Wanderers in a game that the
Paisley side were always in front.   The teams reached
the interval at 2-2, Ed Greaves and Lee Morton scored for Kelburne
while Bobby Ralph and Paul Dailly from a penalty corner levelled
the scores.   Wanderers found themselves 4-2 behind
through Willie Marshall and Jack McAllister, Steven Glass brought
it back to 4-3, before Jonny Christie, playing his first indoor
game in many years, put Kelburne 5-3 in front.

Wanderers then shot themselves in the foot with two spot misses
from Glass and youngster Rory Taylor, the latter after a
retake.    Meanwhile, Lee Morton made it 6-3 for
Kelburne with a brilliant solo goal.    Glass gave
Wanderers a glimmer of hope with two late goals , but too little
too late.

Kelburne polished off Grange with a bit more leeway in their
second game with a 8-3 victory.   It looked all over at
the interval with the Paisley side five up, doubles from Christie
and Marshall with another by Lee Morton did the damage.
Back came Grange and four minutes after the interval the score had
been pegged back to 5-3, Stewart Laing and Fraser Sands (2) were on
target.   But Kelburne then got their second wind in the
final eight minutes, Christie scored another two for a personal
tally of four and Adam Bain got the other

Wanderers bounced back against Harris to pick up their first
three points of the season, courtesy of a hat-trick by Fergus
Sandison.     Wanderers were 3
-1 up at the interval through goals from Sandison, Ross Davie and
Bobby Ralph, Mark Callaghan notched one for Harris.
Wanderers moved further ahead after the interval with Sandison
notching his hat-trick and Ralph got the other two, Albert Rowling
scoring a consolation for Harris.

Finally, the Grange youngsters did manage a win on the day, they
beat Harris 6-2.  It was 2-2 at the interval, Murdo Elwis
scored both Grange`s goals while Callum Boag and Rowling were on
target for Harris.    The second half belonged to
Grange, Fraser Sands, Robbie Shepherdson and two from teenager
Hamish Imrie completed the scoring.
