Glynhill Kelburne are champions for the tenth season in a row

 

Glynhill Kelburne won the Aberdeen Asset Management National League Division 1 title for a tenth year running after a 2-1 victory over Grange in the Grand Final at the Glasgow National Hockey Centre.
Following a closely contested first half, penalty drag-flick expert Mark Ralph gave the defending champions a 1-0 lead shortly before half-time with a trademark penalty corner strike into the roof of the net.
However, Grange responded mid-way through the second half, after a fine move from the Stags ended up with Andrew Brogdon deflecting the ball past Kelburne Mark Fulton to make it 1-1 in the 52nd minute.
Class told in the end though, with Jack McKenzie’s dive at the back post resulting in the Scotland U21 international turning home the ball with an outstretched stick.
Glynhill Kelburne also qualify for Europe as Scotland’s National League champions.
There was drama in the Dundee derby between Grove Menzieshill and Dundee Wanderers, with two late goals from Ross Glashan and Fergus Sandison sending their city rivals down to Division 2 next season.
Grove Menzieshill had gone 1-0 up in the 11th minute courtesy of a Ben Cosgrove strike, but Chris Anderson’s side failed to take advantage of numerous chances to put the game out of sight.
Watsonians will play in the top flight next season after an intense 2-1 win over Division 2 rivals Uddingston.
Captain William Butler broke the deadlock in the 10th minute, firing home a penalty corner to make it 1-0 to the capital outfit.
Three minutes before the half-time interval, Fraser Sands put Watsonians in a commanding position at the interval, netting from open play to make it 2-0.
Set-piece specialist pulled one back for Uddingston in the 43rd minute, this time scoring from a field goal.
Uddingston drove forward looking for the all-important equaliser but they were reduced to nine men after two yellow cards that made their task an impossible one in the end
AAM Gordonians claimed 5th place in the division after a 4-2 win over Inverleith, with four goals from Dwayne Rowsell the catalyst for the Aberdonians’ victory.
Dwayne Rowsell netted two first half goals from open play in the 9th and 23rd minute to give his side a 2-0 lead, before set-piece expert Adam MacKenzie hauled the Purple Robes back into the contest from a penalty corner shortly before half-time.
Rowsell completed his hat-trick from a penalty corner in the 42nd minute, before slotting home from the penalty spot in the 62nd minute.
Andrew Dane pulled another goal back for Inverleith four minutes from time, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the Edinburgh side finishing the league campaign in sixth position.
Edinburgh University rounded off the league campaign in style, defeating PSL Team Clydesdale 5-0.
First half field goals came from Aedan McCrossan and Robbie Greenhalse, while Tom Barton, Tom Kemsley and McCrossan again all scored within five minutes of the re-start to give the student a comprehensive win.
