Coach Connect/Talent Programme

Scottish Hockey is one of 23 Scottish Governing Bodies working in partnership with sportscotland to develop club and performance focused coaches through the ‘Coaching Connect/Talent programmes’.

Hockey coaches have been nominated by Scottish Hockey and Local Authorities to be part of the programme and these coaches will receive support through access to development workshops and the opportunity to create a coaching development plan.

The programmes were all rolled out from April 2012 and examples of workshops delivered in the first six months were Performance Planning, Performance Enhancement and Injury Prevention, Talent ID & Mindset, Sports Psychology; The Role of the Coach and Performance Analysis Training.

The workshops are delivered by a mixture of top facilitators, experts from local universities and high performance coaches across a number of sports and will involve aspects of theory and practical delivery.

Coaches can attend a series of workshops in each topic with the opportunity to implement what they have learnt and reflect on their successes in future workshops.

The sportscotland staff have been working closely with the sportscotland institute of sport Talent team to create an innovative approach to creating coach development plans and following the ‘Talent ID & Mindset’ workshop coaches on the programme will be further supported to incorporate a growth mindset attitude within their coaching.
