Scotland win series against Italy

Scotland Women twice recovered from being behind against Italy today to record a 3-3 draw and win the three match friendly series 1-0.
The Scots found themselves 2-0 down at half-time following goals from Alessiora Padalino (12’) and  (17’) in a disappointing first half display from Shepherd’s side.
However, Milne Craig Clydesdale Western striker Holly Cram pulled one back for Scotland two minutes into the second half when she found space inside the circle to pick her spot and finish past the Italian goalkeeper to make it 2-1.
Scotland piled on the pressure in search of an equaliser but it was the Italians who restored their two goal advantage from a penalty corner set-play in the 49th minute.
With the Italians content to sit back and let Scotland come onto them, a number of chances were created but a lack of clinical finishing in front of goal didn’t help their cause.
Nevertheless, they finally made a breakthrough in the 64th minute, when Edinburgh University’s Nikki Kidd powered a precise drag flick low into the right hand corner of the net.
With the clock running down and Scotland piling on severe pressure, they were awarded a penalty corner with two minutes to go. A well-worked set piece resulted in the Italian goalkeeper making two impressive stops, but it was third time lucky as Scotland Captain Linda Clement drove an unstoppable shot past the goalkeeper to grab a last minue equaliser for her side and leave the final score 3-3.
