Scotland women squad announced to play Czech Rep at Peffermill

The Scotland Women’s squad has been announced for the visit of Czech Republic to Edinburgh as, the Scots put in their final preparations for the EuroHockey Championships in Germany.

The two match series will see the teams go head-to-head on Saturday 1 July, and Sunday 2 July, at Peffermill.

It’s also a return to the Scotland squad for GB international players as they rejoin the team for a huge summer of international hockey..

These will be the team’s last home matches before the EuroHockey Championships in Monchengladbach, Germany, where Scotland will play in Group B against England; Germany; and Ireland, while the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, and Italy meet in Group A.

The Scots have played successful competitive test series’ already this year against Ireland and Wales, and most recently in matches against World number three ranked Australia, and top ten ranked China.

The team is hoping for a huge home crowd to roar them on to Germany, where they will represent Scotland at the top table of international European hockey.

Head Coach Chris Duncan said, “Playing international hockey at home is a special moment for all of the players and staff. To bring international competition to Scotland in July is something that we want to celebrate and the games against the Czech Republic give us the chance to ramp up our final preparations for Europe, but also to play in front of the passionate Scottish crowd.

“These games will see the return of our GB players into Scottish colours before we head to England and France, then ultimately to Germany to compete, so we would love to see a packed stand at Peffermill to cheer the team on.”
