Scottish Youth Internationals set for UK School Games in Sheffield

Scotland’s youth hockey internationals will have
the chance to relish the experience of competing at a multi-sport
international event when they take part in The Sainsbury’s UK
School Games in Sheffield from 1st-4th September.
A mixture of U16 and U18 players will feature for
both boys and girls Scotland squads, competing in international
fixtures against their British counterparts from England, Wales and
Ulster. Sixteen players have been selected to represent Scotland,
as well as reserves on stand-by.
The Sainsbury’s UK School Games is a multi-sport
event for the UK’s elite young athletes of school age and will
enable players to experience a four-day multi-sport environment
that is designed to replicate the feel of major events such as the
Olympic Games, Paralympic Games and Commonwealth Games.
The Games seek to create an inspirational and
motivational setting, which not only provides elite young sports
athletes to thrive and perform at the highest levels, but
encourages more young people to take part and succeed in
sport.
