Weekend Preview: Men’s National Indoor League

Following the festive break, the Men’s National Indoor League programme resumes in Division 1, Central and Midland & North.
Division 1, Forthbank, Stirling
In Division 1, pacesetters Inverleith and Grove Menzieshill can extend their points total at the league summit when they face matches against Western Wildcats and PSL Clydesdale during Saturday’s session at Forthbank in Stirling. The division’s front-runners will both be confident of securing maximum points from the contests following their comprehensive opening day victories over the Glasgow sides in early December.
Meanwhile, Harris Academy FP will be hoping to register their first points of the league campaign when they face local rivals Dundee Wanderers and capital outfit Grange, while Kelburne will be looking to strengthen their position in the top half of the table with matches against the same opposition.
Central Division, Glasgow Caledonian University, Glasgow
Edinburgh University’s run of five wins on the trot have catapulted them to the top of the Central Division ahead of PSL Team Sport Clydesdale. The students will face third place Glasgow University, themselves on an unbeaten run of five matches, and Waverley Inveresk Trinity during Saturday’s session at the Glasgow Caledonian University.
Meanwhile, Clydesdale can keep the pressure on the leaders if they can overcome CALA Edinburgh II and Grange II, while Glasgow University will aim to stay in contention at the top when they play their second match of the session against Alpha Data Carnegie.
CALA Edinburgh II and Waverley Inveresk Trinity’s respective matches against East Kilbride and Alpha Data Carnegie are must wins if they are to ease the pressure of finishing bottom of the table.
Midland & North Division, Dundee International Sports Centre, Dundee
In the Midland & North Division, Perthshire are the only side who retain a 100% record with three victories, but face testing matches on Saturday when they play AAM Gordonians II, Stirling Wanderers and Granite City Wanderers II at DISC.
However, Stirling Wanderers could also find themselves in a healthy position if they can overcome the league leaders, Granite City Wanderers II and AAM Gordonians II.
Aberdeen GSFP will hope to take advantage of any slip-up when they take on Tayside clubs Harris Academy FP II and Dundee Wanderers III, both who sit at foot of the table.
