Weekend Preview: Women’s National Indoor League

The Women’s National League Indoor programme also recommences this weekend with fixtures in both Division 1 and Midland & North on Sunday 13 January.
Women’s National League Division 1, Forthbank, Stirling
Top of the table Dundee Wanderers will be aiming to continue their unbeaten run at Forthbank, Stirling on Sunday and make it nine victories out of nine by beating relegation candidates Granite City Wanderers and Western Wildcats, who sit in mid-table.
However, second place Grove Menzieshill are still hot on the heels of their city rivals and can keep the pressure on Wanderers with wins over the same opponents on Sunday. Both Granite City Wanderers and the Wildcats have their work cut out for themselves as they attempt to create an upset against the two front runners this weekend.
Meanwhile, Kelburne will want to continue the winning habit, following their first victory of the season in the last Division 1 session, but they face challenging fixtures against third place CALA Edinburgh and Milne Craig Clydesdale Western.
With the Buddies, Granite City Wanderers and Inverleith all deadlocked at the bottom of the table, any points picked up this weekend will be precious as all three teams battle to beat the drop.
Women’s National League Midland & North Division, Dundee University, Dundee
The Midland & North Division is currently a three horse race for top spot, with three teams deadlocked on five points. Grove Menzieshill II top the league on goal difference from Stirling Wanderers and Perthshire.
The Dundonians will be looking to improve on their narrow advantage by beating local rivals Dundee Wanderers II for a third time this season. They will then face bottom placed Bon Accord MBC, who are still seeking their first victory of the campaign.
Nonetheless, Stirling Wanderers will be hoping to leapfrog Grove, the only team to beat them this season, by sealing victories against Dundee Wanderers II and Perthshire. However, Perthshire also have intentions to claim the top spot and two wins on Sunday would help their cause.
